What Makes Goshiki So Special?

The Goshiki is one of the most intricate canvases in all of koi keeping. Its name means "five colors," a weave of white, red, black, blue, and grey in which a finely netted, reticulated ground flows beneath bold kohaku-style beni. Every scale carries its own fingerprint of shading, and the whole picture deepens and shifts as the koi matures — a living artwork that rewards patient keeping.
