Choosing Tubing
Flexible PVC is the most popular choice for koi pond plumbing — it handles curves without fittings, resists kinking, and connects easily with standard barbed and slip fittings. Corrugated tubing is lighter and less expensive but has higher friction loss. For aeration systems, use weighted airline tubing rated for pond use. Pro tip: use 1.5" tubing minimum for koi ponds and 2" for systems above 5,000 GPH. Oversizing reduces friction loss and makes your pump more efficient.
