What Makes Beni Ginga So Special?
The Beni Ginga is one of the most exciting modern varieties in koi keeping — a metallic doitsu koi from the Kikokuryu family whose name means "red galaxy." Gleaming platinum and deep charcoal-black swirl across scaleless skin, punctuated by plates of warm beni, and the sumi famously shifts with water temperature and season, so the same fish literally changes its outfit through the year.
Ozumi Ikarashi Koi Farm is among the few Niigata breeders producing Beni Ginga at this level, and this young male shows the variety's signature interplay of shine, shadow, and red. For keepers who love a koi with personality, few varieties offer this much visual drama in constant motion.
