Floating koi food is the most popular feeding format for pond keepers. Pellets that float on the surface let you observe your koi during feeding — an important opportunity to check for health issues, count fish, and build hand-feeding trust. Play It Koi carries floating formulas from Dainichi, Hikari, Blue Ridge, and Microbe-Lift in staple, color-enhancing, and growth varieties.
Why Choose Floating Food?
Floating pellets give koi keepers control over feeding portions since uneaten food is visible and easy to remove. Surface feeding also creates less bottom waste compared to sinking pellets. Most premium koi foods are designed as floaters — they hold together longer in water without clouding the pond. Pro tip: in windy conditions, feed in a sheltered corner or use a floating feeding ring to keep pellets contained.
