Submersible Pond Pumps for Waterfalls, Fountains & Koi Ponds

Submersible pond pumps sit directly in the water — simply drop them in, connect the discharge hose, and plug them in. This simplicity makes them the most popular choice for waterfalls, fountains, small to mid-size koi ponds, and water features of all kinds. Play It Koi carries submersible pumps from Aquascape, Danner, OASE, ShinMaywa, and other trusted brands.

Submersible Pump Selection Guide

For waterfalls, prioritize high flow rate at the head height of your waterfall — a rule of thumb is 100 GPH per inch of spillway width. For koi ponds, choose an energy-efficient model that can run 24/7 without excessive electricity costs. ShinMaywa's Norus series and OASE's AquaMax series are standout choices for koi applications due to their solids-handling capability and low wattage. For fountains, match the pump to the fountain head's recommended flow. Pro tip: always place submersible pumps on a pump sock or basket to prevent debris from clogging the intake — this extends pump life significantly.
