Description

The Aqua Ultraviolet Stainless Steel Series takes the field-proven Classic-Series UV chamber and wraps it in a 316-grade stainless body for marine, brackish, and high-pressure pond applications where PVC won't hold up. Stainless Steel UV Sterilizers are the choice for reef-grade saltwater systems, koi ponds with pressurized return plumbing, and aquaculture / commercial installations where the unit lives in direct sunlight or industrial environments. Available in the same 8 W → 57 W wattage range as the Classic line plus high-output SL 100 W and SL 200 W variants for serious sterilization workloads.

Key Features

  • 316-grade stainless steel chamber — corrosion-resistant in saltwater, brackish, and high-UV outdoor applications
  • Available wattages: 8 / 15 / 25 / 40 / 57 / SL 100 / SL 200 W
  • Multiple port-size options per wattage class: 3/4" / 1" / 2" union
  • Optional wiper assembly on SL 100 (note: not recommended for saltwater — voids wiper warranty per Aqua UV policy)
  • Same Classic-Series flow-rate tables apply — same sizing methodology, just upgraded chassis
  • Industrial-grade build for reef tanks, koi grow-out systems, and commercial pondscapes
  • Made in the USA — Aqua Ultraviolet has manufactured UV sterilizers in Temecula, California since 1992
  • Backed by Aqua Ultraviolet's full manufacturer warranty

Flow Rate (GPH) by Wattage

Stainless Steel chassis uses the same Classic-Series chamber for 8-57W and the SL chamber for SL 100/200. Flow rates match the underlying chamber design.

Wattage Max GPH (Clarification, ~30,000 µW/cm²) — green-water control Min GPH (Sterilization, ~90,000 µW/cm²) — parasite + bacteria kill
8 W (Classic chamber) 642 GPH 214 GPH
15 W (Classic chamber) 700 GPH 233 GPH
25 W (Classic chamber) 1,200 GPH 400 GPH
40 W (Classic chamber) 2,900 GPH 967 GPH
57 W (Classic chamber) 3,200 GPH 1,066 GPH
SL 100 W 6,600 GPH 2,200 GPH
SL 200 W 9,200 GPH 3,066 GPH

Sizing rule: divide your filtered circulation rate (GPH) by the column you need. Pick a unit whose Max GPH ≥ your circulation rate to achieve clarification dose; pick a unit whose Min GPH ≥ your circulation rate to achieve full sterilization dose at that flow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose Stainless Steel or Classic PVC?

Choose Stainless Steel if the unit will see saltwater, brackish water, direct unfiltered sunlight, or pressurized return plumbing above ~30 PSI. Choose Classic PVC for traditional pond installations where the unit is sheltered.

Can I run the wiper-equipped SL 100 on a saltwater system?

Aqua UV explicitly does NOT recommend wipers in saltwater — saltwater operation voids the wiper warranty. Use the non-wiper SS variants and clean the quartz sleeve manually every 2–3 months.

How does the SL Series differ from Classic Series?

SL units use a high-output PL-L compact UV-C lamp delivering more dose per pass than equivalent-wattage Classic lamps. Lamps are NOT interchangeable between SL and Classic.
