Dosing Instructions

Standard Dose

Add PraziPro® at the rate of 1 ounce per 125 gallons of water (equivalent to ~1 teaspoon / 5 mL per 20 gallons). This produces a treatment concentration of 2.5 mg/L of praziquantel. Distribute around the edge of the pond or pour directly into the filter for maximum dispersion.

Pre-Treatment

Start each treatment with as large a partial water change as possible (at least 30%). Condition new water with Hikari Ultimate® (or Stress-X™ plus ClorAm-X®) to remove ammonia, chlorine, and chloramines before adding PraziPro®. Calculate actual water volume (length × width × average depth ÷ 238 = US gallons) and subtract substrate / décor displacement so dosing is not over-estimated.

Filtration During Treatment

Remove activated carbon (GAC) from filtration. Turn off foam fractionators (protein skimmers) and ultraviolet (UV) sterilizers until the treatment is complete. Keep all other filtration running.

Treatment Duration & Re-Dose

A single treatment may extend 3–5 days. Re-treat no more frequently than every 3 days, with a partial water change before each re-dose. For significant parasite issues, up to four uninterrupted treatment cycles may be needed (parasite life cycles can run up to 28 days).

Contraindications

• Do not use in water that has been treated with potassium permanganate or other permanganate salts.
• Do not combine with any other drugs or treatments, including water conditioners other than those recommended above, without first determining the safety of combining treatments.
• Do not use in marine (saltwater) systems where flatworms of the order Polycladida (e.g., Pseudoceros spp., Thysanozoon spp.) are being cultured, or where feather-duster worms (Sabellidae) are present — PraziPro® is harmful to delicate worm-type invertebrates.
• Avoid sulfur- or sulfinite-based water conditioners during treatment — they reduce effectiveness and lower dissolved oxygen.
• Salinity above 0.20% can reduce product effectiveness.
• Do not overdose. Overdosing may cause fatalities and will not accelerate healing.
• Avoid skin and eye contact. Avoid ingestion. Keep out of reach of children.
