Dosing Instructions
Standard Dose
Add 1 teaspoon (~5 mL) of Stress-X™ per 10 gallons of water. Add before introducing new fish, invertebrates, amphibians, or plants. May be used daily if needed. Excellent for use when shipping fish in bags.
What Stress-X Does Not Do
Stress-X™ will not remove or detoxify ammonia or chloramines. Use Hikari ClorAm-X® or Ultimate® alongside Stress-X if ammonia/chloramine removal is also needed.
Recommendations
Use Stress-X™ any time you notice damaged skin-slime coat or elevated stress levels caused by skin damage.
Contraindications
- Do not combine with permanganate-based treatments (e.g., potassium permanganate) — Stress-X™ is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
- Do not use with unchelated ("free") copper medications — the metal will be precipitated or chelated and partially or wholly inactivated.
- Care should be taken when used alongside water conditioners containing hydroxymethanesulfinates, hydrosulfites, or formaldehyde-sulfoxylates (recognizable by their characteristic sulfurous or sewage-like odor).
- Compatible with malachite green, methylene blue, and related dyes; compatible with most antibiotics; compatible with biological filtration (will not interfere with the nitrification process).
- Test-kit compatibility: Stress-X™ is compatible with all known aquarium and pond test kits, including Nessler's total-ammonia kits and Winkler dissolved-oxygen kits.
- Storage: keep tightly closed in the original container, away from heat and direct sunlight (room temperature, 60–100 °F). Do not return unused portions to the original container or introduce other chemicals into the container.
