PondMAX Clear Water Pump and Filter Kits

The PondMAX ClearWater Pump and Filter Kits make installing your new pond filtration system very simple. This is a complete pump and filter system that offers the perfect solution for ponds with or without fish (sizing info below).

These filters feature an ultraviolet clarifier that helps enhance your pond's filtration and eliminate green water. In the Ultra Series (pressurized) kits, the PondMAX pump features a unique cage design to prevent clogging and build up. Each pressurized kit also includes a Bonus 16 oz bottle of PondMAX Clarifier Bacteria for FREE. Ultra Series (Pressurized) Kits: Setup Tips

These kits are a pump and filter package, not a whole pond. You need a finished pond to put them in, whether that's a preformed shell, a liner or poured concrete.

• Put the pump at the lowest point in the pond, where it helps keep sludge and muck from building up. Lower it in by its handle, never by the cord.
• Set the filter outside the pond, as close as you can to the height of the waterfall or wherever the clean water returns. That keeps back pressure on the filter down. If you bury it, stop below the clamp.
• Uncoil the pond hose and, if you like, leave it in the sun for up to 30 minutes first. It softens and stretches over the hose tails more easily. Cut off any hose-tail steps smaller than your hose.
• Run hose from the pump to the filter inlet (the port marked with a pump), then from the outlet beside it (marked with a fish) to the waterfall or return point. Clamp every connection.
• Fit the ball valve to the backwash port (marked with plants). The CW750 is the exception: as noted above, its PF750 filter has no ball valve on the waste line. Either way, backwash water is dirty, so send it somewhere out in the yard, never back into the pond.
• Fill the pond until the pump is covered before you switch it on. Turn the UV on only after the filter canister has filled, and check the viewing window to confirm it's running. The glow is easiest to see at night.
• Once the water is moving, pour the 16 oz bottle of BactiMAX+ beneficial bacteria that comes with the kit into the pond to get biological activity going in the pond and filter.

Euro Series CW1800 Clear Water Kit

The CW1800 is built differently from the pressurized kits, so set it up and clean it by these notes instead. A PondMAX FP550 pump pushes water from the pond, through kink-free hose, into a PondMAX UVC9W UV clarifier mounted on the side of a flow-through filter tank. A spray bar spreads the water into the tank, and it returns to the pond through an overflow pipe and hose.

In the box you'll find the tank with its lid, a fine sponge and a coarse sponge, Bio-Sphere media, the spray bar and overflow pipe, the FP550 pump, the UVC9W clarifier, kink-free hose, hose barbs and fittings.

• Measure your spot first: the filter tank is 15.5 x 11.5 x 15.5 in (40 x 29 x 40 cm).
• Neither the tank nor the clarifier can go in the water. Place the clarifier at least 6.5 ft (2 m) back from the pond edge, and never run it dry: it has to be fed by the pump.
• The FP550 can work submerged in the pond, or outside it as long as it sits lower than the pond's water level and is connected to it.
• Lay the media from the bottom up. Spread the Bio-Spheres evenly over the tank floor, add the black coarse sponge, then the blue fine sponge, with the sponge holes over the overflow pipe. Close the lid.
• When the clarifier is working you'll see a blue light on its transparent adapter.
• Cleaning is hands-on. Look inside the tank from time to time. When the media is dirty, take it out and rinse it under cold running water only, with no detergents, so you don't harm the bacteria doing the biological filtering. Hose out the tank and lay the media back in the same order.

• To shut it down, switch off the pump first and then the clarifier.
• Change the UV lamp every 5,000 to 6,000 hours, which works out to about one season in the pond. Lamps and quartz sleeves for PondMAX UV clarifiers are on our replacement lamps and quartz sleeves page.
• Keep the kit out of direct sun and out of freezing weather. In winter, take it out, empty it and store it where it's protected.
• The CW1800 is covered by the same 2-year warranty as the pressurized kits. Warranty details for the FP550 pump and the UVC9W clarifier are in their own manuals, which come in the box.
