Hiblow Adjustable Height Pond Diffuser

The Hiblow Adjustable Height Pond Diffuser holds its two medium-bubble diffuser sticks anywhere from 11.5 to 35.5 inches above the pond floor. The air pump only has to push against the water above the sticks, so raising them lets a Hiblow linear diaphragm pump aerate ponds up to 13 feet deep. In Hiblow's test tank, the diffuser read about 1 PSI less at its 36-inch setting than at 11 inches.

Why raise the diffuser

• In a pond deeper than 10 feet, raise the sticks so they sit no more than 10 feet down. Linear diaphragm pumps lose flow and wear out sooner when the diffuser is deeper than that.
• For winter aeration, use the top setting. The bubbles keep a hole open in the ice without mixing the warmer water at the bottom, where fish spend the winter.
• Over a mucky bottom, raised sticks leave the muck alone. Lower them later as the muck level drops.

Details

• Two 12-inch medium-bubble diffuser sticks spanning 25.5 inches
• Six height settings from 11.5 to 35.5 inches, using three screw-in PVC extenders
• 8 lb stainless steel base plate, 21 x 18-1/4 inches, heavy enough to sink and stay put without gravel or bricks
• Check valve installed on the base plate
• Hose barbs for 3/8, 1/2 and 5/8 inch ID tubing, plus a hose clamp
• Rope for lowering the diffuser and pulling it back up
• Needs at least 40 LPM of continuous airflow to aerate properly and keep the sticks from clogging

Setup notes

• Lower the plate into the water on the rope. Don't toss it in or drag it into place by the tubing.
• Start a new system slowly: run it 1 hour the first day and double the time each day until it runs around the clock. Running 24/7 from day one can stir up bottom muck and drop oxygen levels.
• Wear gloves when handling the base plate.
• Tie a float or decoy to the rope to mark where the diffuser sits. A decoy is not included.

Warranty: 36 months from Hiblow USA. The diffuser sticks are wear parts and aren't covered.
