Description
With wider, more fully cupped blooms than most other rain lilies, Rosea may be tiny but it won't escape notice. The grassy foliage doesn't obscure the blooms, and makes these delightful plants great for containers, edgings and scattering below high shade trees. This rain lily blossoms later than many others, in the late summer and early fall, so it's ideal for extending the blooming season of these little darlings.
Plant in full sun to partial shade, and in small container using loam soil. Zephyranthes rosea thrive in moist to well-drained soil and are only hardy to Zones 9-11. Therefore, in colder climates, the bulbs should be dug up prior to the first frost, and overwintered indoors in a cool, dry place. Similarly, containers should be relocated to a cool, dry and frost-free location for the winter. Be sure to keep the soil from drying out. Bulbs should be replanted in the spring.
