Description
The Teton XUV Series Professional UV Clarifiers are designed for superior pond water sterilization and algae control in koi ponds, water gardens, and aquaculture systems. Each model features a multi-directional 2″ outlet for flexible plumbing and durable metal housings—aluminum for the 16W model and stainless-steel UV clarifier housings for the 25W, 40W, 80W, and 120W models. The reflective capacity of the metal design delivers higher UVC efficiency than plastic, ensuring effective and long-lasting performance. Backed by a 2-year limited warranty, the Teton UV Clarifier line is built for professionals who demand reliability in their pond UV filter and sterilizer systems.

Choosing a Model:
Size the unit to your pump as well as your pond. Each model has a maximum flow rate, set so the water spends long enough beside the lamp to be treated. If your pump moves more than that, go up a size. Teton also notes that when the XUV is sized and run for more UV exposure, which can mean a lower flow rate, the unit can also be used for sterilization applications beyond green water, to help reduce protozoa and free-floating bacteria.
| Model | UV lamp | Max flow (GPH) | Max pond size (gal) | Cord length |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XUV16A | 16W | 2,250 | 4,500 | 8 ft |
| XUV25S | 25W | 2,750 | 5,000 | 8 ft |
| XUV40S | 40W | 3,750 | 7,500 | 8 ft |
| XUV80S | 80W | 5,000 | 10,000 | 8 ft |
| XUV120S | 120W | 7,000 | 14,000 | 8 ft |
All five are rated to 36 psi (2.5 bar), so one can sit on the line coming off a pressurized filter such as our Teton XKF pressure filters.
Installation:
- It goes inline on the pressure side of your pump, after the filter where you can, and always outside the pond. Never submerge it.
- Keep it at least 6 ft from the water's edge, in a dry, ventilated spot out of direct sun. The manual says to mount it vertically, and it puts the ballast, plug and power cord under the same rule as the unit: at least 2 m from the pond.
- Use a grounded outlet with GFCI protection, and only switch the lamp on when water is flowing through.
- A mounting bracket comes with it. Whichever outlet you don't use gets closed off with a cap.
- Fresh water only, between 33°F and 104°F. Outside that range, disconnect it from the water completely.
Maintenance:
Clean the quartz sleeve and housing at least twice a year to clear scale and algae. The lamp is due for replacement after 9,000 hours of use, and switching it on and off often shortens that. Before any maintenance, unplug both the UV and the pump, and give the lamp a while to cool: the manual warns the unit and lamp can stay hot for up to 10 minutes after you disconnect them. Replacement lamps, quartz sleeves and transformer assemblies are on our Teton UV Clarifier Replacement Parts page.
