Description
GC Tek took its popular AlphaONE and AquaBead filters and filled them with its newer NANO media. NANO media has more than 600 square feet of surface area per cubic foot, so beneficial bacteria have plenty of room to colonize, and the filter both cleans and polishes your pond water.
Customers tell us they love how these filters perform. We do too: this is the filter we chose to run on our own show pond.
Unlike a bead filter, the AlphaNANO polishes the water as well as it handles biological filtration, because its NANO media is smaller.
How does it do this?
A bead filter catches most of its solids in the first few inches of the bead bed. That layer clogs, which cuts flow and raises the pressure inside the vessel. NANO media catches debris evenly through the whole bed, so water keeps moving, there's less back pressure, and you clean the filter less often. Owners tell GC Tek the polishing is one of the things they like most about it.
GC Tek designed the media specifically for this filter. Some specialty media have internal crosshairs, and in a static bed those crosshairs hold debris until it goes anaerobic. GC Tek left them out, so there are no hidden pockets for debris to sit in.
Here's a close look at the media.

*All AlphaNANO filters come with a 2 HP media agitator. Standard plumbing is 2".

| Fish load ratings assume fish fed at 1% of body weight daily. The model number is the volume of media the filter holds, in cubic feet. On the 6.3 and 10.3, the trailing .3 indicates a larger plumbing size rather than additional media, which is what allows the higher flow rate. | |||||
