Dosing Instructions
Bath Treatment
Add 1 capful (~10 g) of Metro+™ per 20 gallons (76 L) of water once daily, producing a treatment concentration of 5 mg/L of metronidazole. Continue the daily treatment for 5–7 days or until mortalities cease. Discontinue if no improvement appears within 6 days.
Pre-Treatment & Daily Water Change
A minimum 30% water change is required before the first dose and before each daily re-dose. Use Hikari Ultimate® or a combination of Liquid Buffered ClorAm-X® and Stress-X™ to condition the new water (remove ammonia, chlorine, and chloramines).
Oral / Medicated Feed
Metro+™ may also be mixed with food and fed at least twice daily — feed only the amount the fish will completely consume within 5 minutes. Continue feeding for at least 3 days beyond the disappearance of disease signs.
Contraindications
- Never use with permanganate-based treatments.
- Avoid sulfur- or sulfinite-based water conditioners during treatment — they reduce effectiveness and lower dissolved oxygen.
- Avoid skin and eye contact. Avoid breathing the powder or dust (a painter's mask is suggested when handling).
- California Proposition 65: Contains metronidazole, known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive harm.
