Algae Defense

Algae Defense is a fast-acting, liquid contact algaecide formulated to control filamentous algae, bottom-growing chara, and planktonic algae. It can be mixed with pond water and sprayed directly onto target algae for quick, effective results.

Algae Defense is not recommended for ponds containing koi, goldfish, grass carp, or trout. However, it is an excellent choice for freshwater lakes, potable water reservoirs, fish hatcheries, and game fish ponds.

For best results, use Algae Defense with Treatment Booster PLUS. This combination helps maximize treatment effectiveness by improving the spreading and adhesion of the treatment to target algae. Treatment Booster PLUS also helps break down the algae's protective surface, allowing the treatment to penetrate more effectively.

Dosage Rates

Mix 1 gallon of Algae Defense with 10 gallons of water to treat up to 8,000 square feet of undesirable plant area.

When to Use Algae Defense

Apply Algae Defense when the target algae is actively growing. For the best results, treat algae while it is healthy and actively developing. The active ingredients are absorbed by the algae, helping to control and eliminate the targeted growth.

How to Use Algae Defense

Mix Algae Defense with water according to the directions on the product label. For best results, apply the mixture directly to the target algae using a pressurized sprayer.

After treatment, the algae will gradually begin to brown and die. Once the algae has died, rake or remove it from the water to help prevent the buildup of decaying plant material and pond muck.

To help maintain healthy water conditions, treat no more than one-half of the pond's surface area at a time, then wait 10 to 14 days before treating the remaining area. During hot weather or when fish are stressed, limit treatment to one-quarter to one-third of the pond at a time.

When treating algae in deeper water, place the sprayer tip below the water's surface to apply the treatment directly to the target algae.

Algae Defense should not be used in ponds containing koi, goldfish, grass carp, or trout.

Algae Defense cannot be shipped to: Alaska, California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Washington.
