Description
The Aqua Ultraviolet SL Series uses a high-output PL-L compact UV-C lamp delivering more germicidal dose per pass than equivalent-wattage Classic-Series units. SL is the right choice for heavily-stocked koi ponds, commercial pondscapes, and high-bioload installations where maximum UV-C dose per gallon-of-flow matters more than minimum upfront cost. Available in SL 100 W (120 V) and SL 200 W (120 V or 240 V) — match to your local electrical service and pond circulation rate.

Flow Rate (GPH) by Wattage
| Wattage | Max GPH (Clarification, ~30,000 µW/cm²) — green-water control | Min GPH (Sterilization, ~90,000 µW/cm²) — parasite + bacteria kill |
|---|---|---|
| SL 100 W | 6,600 GPH | 2,200 GPH |
| SL 200 W | 9,200 GPH | 3,066 GPH |
Sizing rule: divide your filtered circulation rate (GPH) by the column you need. Pick a unit whose Max GPH ≥ your circulation rate to achieve clarification dose; pick a unit whose Min GPH ≥ your circulation rate to achieve full sterilization dose at that flow.
Frequently Asked Questions
SL vs Classic vs Viper — when do I choose SL?
SL fits the gap between Classic Series (general-purpose pond clarification) and Viper Series (commercial-grade sterilization). Pick SL if your pond is 8,000-15,000 gallons and you need sterilization-grade dose without the cost of a Viper.
Can I use SL replacement bulbs in my Classic unit?
No — SL uses PL-L compact lamps (A20100 / A20200), Classic uses T5 lamps. Different sockets, different lamp geometries.
120 V or 240 V — which do I need?
120 V for standard residential service (USA / Canada). 240 V (SL 200 only) for international (220-240 V service) or for installations on US 240 V circuits where the dedicated transformer is preferred.
Why annually replace the lamp?
UV-C output drops by 30-50% in the first year of operation even though the lamp visibly glows. Operating past 12 months delivers significantly less germicidal dose.
