Best grown in fertile organically rich, medium to wet soils in full sun to part shade. Full sun generally brings out the best leaf color for this cultivar. When growing plants in garden soils, provide regular moisture, especially during dry summer periods, and do not allow soils to dry out. Plants may also be grown as pond marginals in up to 6" of standing water. Plants produce prodigious amounts of growth and appreciate regular fertilization during the growing season.
Black Taro (Colocasia esculenta 'Black Magic')

I'd been looking for Black Magic Colocasias every where and managed to find them here with PlayItKoi. I was unsure if it was worth trying to order the plant (as a bulb) online given that they were out of season when I wanted to order them and unsure if they would survive the trek in the mail. When I called, the owner answered and was very helpful. He gave me careful honest instructions and even told me the truth that the plants might not arrive in the best shape, but that they'd bounce back with proper care. I'm happy to report that they did, indeed, make it to me in the middle of January in decent shape, and after potting and following his advice, they have currently doubled (maybe tripled?) in size are and absolutely thriving. I really appreciated his dedication to getting me the right information and care instructions and will absolutely be recommending Play It Koi to anyone interested in purchasing beautiful plants. Thanks guys!
