Gin Matsuba are a silvery Koi with a black pine-coned pattern tips on the scales. When buying an Aka Matsuba, make sure that the pattern is equal all over the Koi. Of course, watch out for any discolored scales or old scars. Typically the shinier and more shimmery the Gin (silver), the more desirable the fish.
As they don't have any markings, the condition of luster and body conformation become the essential points for appreciation of Koi fish, like the Gin Matsuba, which belong to the Hikari-muji group.
