Description

Pond Solutions Formulation — 1 tsp per 10 gallons

This is the Pond Solutions ClorAm-X® (more concentrated than the Aquarium Solutions version). Standard dose is 1 teaspoon (~5 mL) per 10 gallons of pond water. Hikari also produces an Aquarium Solutions ClorAm-X that doses at 1 teaspoon per 25 gallons; the two formulations are not interchangeable, and using aquarium directions on this pond product will under-dose by 2.5×.

For Decades The Safest & Most Dependable Water Conditioner

Liquid Buffered ClorAm-X® utilizes a patented molecule to destroy chloramine and then removes the ammonia and chlorine. Gone are the days of hoping your biological filtration can remove the bound up ammonia before the health of your fish is impacted, a common process with most other ammonia removers. Look for the ClorAm-X® logo and USA patent number to prove you've chosen the leader and most dependable ammonia remover available worldwide!

Dosing Instructions

Standard Dose (Pond Solutions)

To remove and detoxify ammonia, chlorine, and chloramines, to condition new tap water, or for chlorine and chloramine removal: add 1 teaspoon (~5 mL) per 10 gallons of pond water. The standard dose removes 2.0 mg/L total ammonia (1.6 mg/L as ammonia-nitrogen), 4.2 mg/L free chlorine, and 6.4 mg/L chloramines per dose.

Ammonia Removal Adjustment

To remove ammonia in existing aquariums or ponds, add 1 teaspoon per 10 gallons for each measured 1.0 mg/L of total ammonia (= 0.85 mg/L total ammonia-nitrogen).

Shipping Use

For protecting fish and aquatic invertebrates during shipping, add 1 teaspoon per 10 gallons for each expected 1.0 mg/L of total ammonia. May be used safely at levels up to 10× the single dosage.

Recommendations

Use ClorAm-X® as needed to eliminate and control ammonia at the regular dosage rate for each 1 mg/L (or fraction thereof) of measured total ammonia or for each 0.85 mg/L of measured total ammonia-nitrogen.

Contraindications

  • Do not combine with permanganate-based (e.g., potassium permanganate) or chlorite/chlorate-based treatments.
  • Do not use with treatments containing malachite green, methylene blue, or related dyes — ClorAm-X® will reduce these dyes and inactivate them.
  • Care should be taken when used alongside water conditioners containing hydroxymethanesulfinates, hydrosulfites, or formaldehyde-sulfoxylates (recognizable by their characteristic sulfurous or sewage-like odor).
  • Test-kit interference: Treated water gives false (high) or off-scale readings on Nessler's-reagent ammonia kits, and false (low or zero) readings on Winkler / modified-Winkler dissolved-oxygen kits. Use salicylate / phenol-hypochlorite ammonia kits and indigo-carmine DO kits or DO meters instead. Compatible with all known nitrite and low-range nitrate test kits.
  • Storage: keep tightly closed in the original container; do not return unused portions to the original container; do not introduce water or other chemicals into the container.
