Description
Landon Aquatic Fertilizer is a granular soil amendment you mix in when you pot the plant, not a tablet you push in later. It is the fertilizer for planting day and for repotting — developed by hybridizer Kenneth Landon and used in the International Waterlily Collection in San Angelo, Texas.
Formula 7803 is a 12-20-8 blend built for water lilies and lotus. Mixed into the soil at potting, one application feeds the plant for roughly 60 days, which covers the establishment window when a bare-root tuber is most vulnerable.
How to use it
- Combine ½ cup of Landon 7803 with each gallon of soil.
- Fill the pot about two-thirds full with that mixture.
- Set the tuber or rhizome in place and cover with plain soil — no fertilizer in the top layer, and leave the growing tip uncovered.
- Top with half an inch to an inch of pea gravel to keep the soil from clouding the water.
Landon or PondTabbs?
They do different jobs and most growers use both. Landon goes in at potting, mixed through the soil. PondTabbs feed an established plant through the season — pushed into the soil once the plant has several floating leaves or is starting to put up aerial leaves, then repeated through the growing season.
