PondMAX Submersible Prefilter

The PondMAX Ultra-Series Submersible Prefilter is a bio-mechanical and simple. It effectively extends pump life, and improves pump performance.

How It Works:

This tray takes the place of the cage and sponge on a fountain pump, if your pump has them. Inside are a black foam pad, a blue foam pad and a bed of bio-spheres, so it catches debris before it reaches the pump and gives beneficial bacteria a place to break down waste. It's meant for small ponds and water features.

Before You Order:

• It attaches to your pump with a threaded fitting, so check that your pump takes one.
• The tray measures 13.75 x 9.75 x 4.25 in (L x W x H), so make sure there's room for it where your pump sits.
• Adaptors, a hosetail and anti-kink tubing are in the box, so you won't need extra fittings for a typical fountain pump.

Installation:

• Unplug the pump.
• Thread the hosetail adaptor into the end of the filter and push the tubing onto it.
• Take the cage and sponge off the pump if it has them, then screw in whichever threaded adaptor fits your pump.
• Join the free end of the tubing to that adaptor and set the pump back in the pond where you can reach it for cleaning.

Cleaning:

Skip the calendar and watch the pump: when its output starts to drop, the tray needs attention. Unplug, lift out the pump and tray, and unclip the lid. Rinse both foam pads in a bucket of pond water. Go easy on the bio-spheres and knock off only the excess brown sludge. That brown film is the beneficial bacteria, and you want most of it to stay. Put the bio-spheres back first, then the blue pad, then the black pad on top.

Keep it out of extreme heat and cold, whether it's running in the pond or sitting in storage.

For clear water rather than just cleaner water, you may need to add a PondMAX UV Clarifier sized to your pond and pump. Dosing beneficial bacteria also helps the bio-spheres break down waste.

Warranty: 2-year limited manufacturer's warranty. Consumable parts that wear out through normal maintenance are not covered.
