How to Plant & Care for Lotus
Description
Nelumbo nucifera — large pond lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.
Delicious color. Vermilion Inlaid Gold Lamp is the perfect name for this extra light golden-green flower that has inlaid stripes of vermilion red on the loosely opened bud and at the tips of the predominant outer petals. The flowers are large and produce excellent seed pods. The seeds are delicious and the dried pod is perfect in flower arrangements. For us, this lotus was a steady bloomer throughout the summer.

As a large pond lotus, this one settles at 12 to 24 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
