Description
Nelumbo nucifera 'Beauty Gan', bowl lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.
Beauty Gan comes from the Beauty series bred at Yileen Water Gardens in Nanjing, China. It's a full, densely petaled lotus, with layer after layer of overlapping petals that give it an almost peony-like look.
The base color is ivory to creamy white. The outer petals and edges carry a blush of pink to rose that gets stronger at the tips, so the color looks painted on rather than solid. At the center, a greenish-yellow seedpod sits inside a ring of pale stamens.
