How to Plant & Care for Lotus
Description
Nelumbo nucifera 'Hong Shou', bowl lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.
Hong Shou is a miniature lotus that doesn't hold back on flowers. Each bloom is packed with layers of rosy red and deep pink petals, full enough to look like a small peony.
The outer petals are the darkest, and the inner ones run through shades of pink. Sometimes the center grows a crown of green and pink petaloids instead of seeds.
It blooms early, often before most other lotus have woken up, and keeps blooming through the season. It's a good fit for small containers.
