How to Plant & Care for Lotus
Description
Nelumbo nucifera — medium lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.
Hong Chun Nelumbo nucifera. A most unusual bloom with elongated pink-tipped petals which form a tight ball and then unfurl slowly into a beautiful flower the color of heavy cream kissed with pink. This lotus will do especially well in areas with lower humidity and temperatures. Most of our customers report that this lotus blooms very often for them as it does here at our nursery.

As a medium lotus, this one settles at 6 to 18 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
