Description
Nelumbo nucifera ‘Li Ya’ — medium lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.
Flower Champion. Lovely shape, lots of flowers. 'Elegance' changes from a very light pink lotus to a rich cream color. The "dancing-flying" outer petals begin to drape after the flower fully opens for a wonderfully ethereal look. 'Elegance' almost always presents multiple flowers. This lotus is well-named! The petal count can be single or semi-double, depending on the flower. One of our favorites!

As a medium lotus, this one settles at 6 to 18 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
