How to Plant & Care for Lotus
Description
Nelumbo nucifera ‘Liu Yun’ — dwarf lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.
'Flowing Cloud' can be grown in a small pot but it can also grow about up to 20" tall in a 16" diameter pot. The first day color, pink, recedes to the petal tips, so that the petals of the fully open flower are rich creamy white with dark pink striping. The stacked form of the open flower is the perfect stage for the showy receptacle which is sometimes petaloid. A really great lotus in every way! This one reminds us of 'Charming Lips' but opens more fully and holds up better in hot weather.

As a dwarf lotus, this one settles at 2 to 12 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
