How to Plant & Care for Lotus
Description
Nelumbo nucifera ‘Lihua Bai’ — bowl lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.
Micro Lotus. This tiny little lotus is perfect for a very small pot! A lovely light yellow lotus whose petals drape downward when fully open, 'White Pear Flower' has a prominent green receptacle or yellow-green petaloids. This lotus wins the award for having the strangest rhizomes. The internodes of the rhizomes are round like bubblegum balls linked together. 'White Pear Flower' prefers shallow water and small pots. It is one of the first varieties to bloom in the spring.
At a glance
- Flower color: White (Extra-light Yellow)
- Flower type: Multi-petal, more than 50 petals
- Plant height: Exquisite of Bowl Lotus (Micro, Mini), 6"-12" tall
- Container: 6" and wider, 4"-10" deep
As a bowl lotus, this one settles at 2 to 12 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered. Pot size, soil and the rest of the method are in the lotus planting instructions.
